DENVER โ€” Antonio Senzatela delivered an impressive six-inning performance, earning his first win in almost three years, as the Colorado Rockies defeated the Washington Nationals 3-1 in the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday night. The victory ended the Rockiesโ€™ eight-game losing streak.

In the first matchup of the split doubleheader, Washington secured a 3-2 victory.

Senzatela (1-3), who had been sidelined for 16 months between May 2023 and September 2024 due to both a torn ACL and Tommy John surgery, celebrated his triumph since June 19, 2022. This game marked his eighth start since rejoining the lineup last fall.

He conceded a solitary run on an RBI single by Nathaniel Lowe in the first inning. Lowe, who managed three hits throughout the game, was unable to propel the Nationals any further as Senzatela scattered five hits before departing.

Mickey Moniakโ€™s decisive two-run triple in the fourth inning put Colorado ahead. Later, Nick Martini added to the lead with a pinch-hit groundout, driving in Jordan Beck in the eighth to make the score 3-1.

Nationals rookie Brad Lord (0-2) pitched four innings, allowing two runs on five hits.

Coloradoโ€™s Tyler Kinley claimed his first save to secure the game.

Key Moment: In the fifth inning, Jacob Young initiated a potential rally for Washington with a leadoff single. After advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt, a tantalizing opportunity arose when Wood hit a looping liner toward left field. However, Jordan Beckโ€™s agile sliding catch prevented any further scoring, preserving Coloradoโ€™s lead.

Notable Stat: Reliever Zach Agnos made his MLB debut in the eighth inning, becoming the fourth Rockies player to make his major league debut within the past two weeks. Recently debuting players also include Chase Dollander, Zac Veen, and Braxton Fulford for Colorado.

Looking Ahead: The Nationals return home for the first time since April 9th, preparing to host the Baltimore Orioles in a three-game series starting Tuesday night, with RHP Mitchell Parker (2-1, 1.85 ERA) expected to pitch. Meanwhile, the Rockies travel to Kansas City to face the Royals in a three-game series, with RHP Ryan Feltner (0-1, 4.82 ERA) on the mound.
