ARLINGTON, Texas — During Sunday’s game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Texas Rangers, pitcher Tyler Glasnow exited the match in the fifth inning due to cramps in his lower leg, leaving the game tied at zero.
Glasnow’s departure came after an eventful few innings where he was already approached by Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and athletic trainer Thomas Albert. This visit occurred after Glasnow secured his second out in the fourth inning by striking out Dustin Harris.
Despite the issue, Glasnow continued to pitch, taking down Josh Jung for his sixth strikeout of the game. As he entered the fifth inning, he managed to start with a called strike using a four-seam fastball against Jake Burger. However, Roberts and Albert returned to the mound shortly after to address his condition, leading to Glasnow being replaced by reliever Luis Garcia.
Throughout his time on the mound, Glasnow threw a total of 52 pitches, giving up three singles and issuing a single walk. His performance on Sunday marked his return after an absence last year due to a bout of right elbow tendinitis, which halted his play post-August 11.
In related team news, Dodgers left-hander Blake Snell has been absent from the lineup since April 2 as he continues to recover from inflammation in his left shoulder.
