CHICAGO – FC Cincinnati extended its winning streak to four games with an impressive 3-2 win over the Chicago Fire on Saturday night, thanks to a standout performance by Evander Da Silva Ferreira.
Evander guided Cincinnati to an early lead, scoring in the 9th minute with an assist crafted by Sergio Santos. His second goal of the match, which marked his sixth for the season, came in the 71st minute, assisted by Luca Orellano. Orellano, who had substituted in for Santos in the 54th minute, provided his first assist with the club. Evander, who previously netted 24 goals during his tenure with the Portland Timbers, continues to showcase his skill in his debut season with Cincinnati.
The match saw Chicago Fire’s Hugo Cuypers equalize in the 31st minute. Cuypers made his mark by scoring his sixth goal of the season following a well-timed pass from Jonathan Bamba, who earned his fourth assist this lap around. However, before the halftime break, Cincinnati regained the lead as Santos set up rookie Kévin Denkey for his fourth goal of the season in the 42nd minute, securing a 2-1 advantage.
Late in the game, Brian Gutiérrez converted a penalty kick for Chicago, reducing the deficit in the 85th minute. The penalty was awarded after Miles Robinson fouled Andrew Gutman. This goal marked Gutiérrez’s third of the season.
Goalkeeper Roman Celentano was pivotal for Cincinnati, making two critical saves throughout the match, while Chicago’s Chris Brady kept busy with five saves.
This victory continues Cincinnati’s dominion over Chicago, advancing its all-time record to 6-4-3 and improving its standing to 4-1-1 at Soldier Field.
Looking ahead, FC Cincinnati is set to host Sporting Kansas City in their next match on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Chicago Fire are scheduled to face Nashville SC in an away fixture on the same day.
