Arsenal’s defense line has taken a significant hit with the news that Gabriel Magalhaes, a critical figure at the heart of their backline, is set to sit out the remainder of the season. The Brazilian defender suffered a hamstring injury during Arsenal’s recent victory over Fulham in the Premier League.

After an assessment, the club announced that Gabriel would undergo surgery to address the injury. “Gabi will undergo a surgical repair procedure to his hamstring in the coming days and immediately begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme, with the aim to be ready for the start of next season,” Arsenal stated in a recent announcement. Emphasizing their commitment to supporting the player, they added, “Everyone at the club will be fully focused on supporting Gabi to ensure he is back to full fitness as soon as possible.”

This development is another setback for Arsenal, which has been plagued by injuries to several of their key players this season. Among those sidelined for considerable periods have been Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka, alongside Kai Havertz, who, like Gabriel, has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a similar hamstring issue.

Saka made his comeback earlier this week following more than four months away from the field due to injury. Meanwhile, Arsenal finds themselves trailing league leaders Liverpool by 12 points with only eight games left to play in the current season. With these challenges looming, Arsenal will need to regroup and focus on consolidating their position in the league standings as they navigate the ongoing campaign without some of their vital players.
