TAMPA, Fla. — The Colorado Rockies edged out a 2-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday, thanks to clutch performances from Brenton Doyle and Kyle Farmer. Both players delivered key RBI singles that ultimately sealed the game for Colorado.

Doyle opened the scoring for the Rockies in the third inning, sending a ground ball up the middle to drive Nick Martini home. It wasn’t long before Kyle Farmer extended the lead in the seventh inning, hitting a sharp liner to right field that allowed Hunter Goodman to cross the plate, pushing the score to 2-0.

Despite Tampa Bay’s impressive 12-hit outing in their second regular-season game at Steinbrenner Field, the team struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities. The Rays went a frustrating 2 for 10 with runners in scoring position and left a total of 12 runners stranded on base.

The Rays have been playing at the Yankees’ spring training facility following the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Milton, which severely damaged the Tropicana Field roof on October 9. With challenges on and off the field, Tampa Bay aimed to make the most of their temporary home, despite Saturday’s setback.
