Delaware Triumphs Over Stony Brook 80-76 in CAA Tournament

    WASHINGTON — In a heated match-up during the opening round of the Coastal Athletic Association Tournament, Delaware clinched a tightly contested win over Stony Brook, ending with a narrow 80-76 margin on Friday. Erik Timko was pivotal in this victory, delivering an impressive 19-point game.

    In addition to his scoring prowess, Timko also grabbed five rebounds, playing a critical role for the Blue Hens, who now stand at 13-19 for the season. Supporting him on the scoreboard was Niels Lane, who contributed 16 points, hitting 7 out of 10 shots from the field and making two successful free throws from four attempts. Another key player was Izaiah Pasha, who added 15 points with a remarkable shooting performance, scoring on five of eight field-goal attempts and being flawless on the line with four out of four free throws.

    This victory was particularly significant for Delaware as it snapped a disheartening five-game losing streak, igniting hopes for a stronger finish in the tournament. Stony Brook, on the other hand, found themselves on the losing end despite a strong effort. CJ Luster II nearly carried the Seawolves alone, posting an outstanding 31 points in the match. His teammate, Collin O’Connor, offered additional support with an 18-point contribution.

    By halftime, Delaware had established a commanding lead over Stony Brook, heading into the break with a 50-34 advantage. Timko was instrumental in the first half, scoring 14 points. In the latter part of the game, Pasha stepped up to lead Delaware’s second-half efforts with eight additional points, ensuring the team stayed ahead.
