In Kansas City, Kansas, a man received a sentence of life imprisonment on Thursday for the murder of two sheriff’s deputies during an attempted transfer between a jail and a courthouse back in June 2018. Antoine Fielder, aged 36, entered a plea of guilty in December to two charges of capital murder along with one count of aggravated robbery, thereby evading the death penalty.

Previously, Fielder had already faced accusations for two other murders before he managed to overpower and kill Wyandotte County Deputies Theresa King and Patrick Rohrer. This tragic event took place in a secured section behind the courthouse. Patrick Rohrer, aged 35, succumbed to his injuries shortly after the incident, while Theresa King, aged 44, passed away the following day at a hospital.

At that time, Fielder had undergone two trials connected to the 2015 murder of 22-year-old Kelsey Ewonus. Her body had been discovered in a parked vehicle in Kansas City, Kansas. However, the charges were dismissed after the second trial ended without a verdict due to a hung jury.

Authorities claim that in December 2017, Fielder fatally shot 55-year-old Rosemarie Harmon in Kansas City, Missouri, and also injured her companion. A gun linked to a carjacking committed earlier that month in Kansas City, Kansas, connected him to Harmon’s murder through ballistics testing.

At the time of shooting the deputies, Fielder was already facing murder charges in Jackson County, Missouri, for Harmon’s death, in addition to numerous other charges related to the carjacking incident in Wyandotte County.

The family of Kelsey Ewonus, including her son who was just a year old at the time of her death, have voiced their discontent over Fielder’s release after his trials ended without conclusion, expressing their belief that he would continue to commit violent acts.
