IRVING, Texas — The upcoming season of the College Football Playoff selection committee will be under the leadership of Mack Rhoades, who is the athletic director at Baylor University.
Joining the 13-member team this season are several notable additions. These include Mark Dantonio, the former head coach at Michigan State and Cincinnati, Damon Evans, the athletic director from Maryland, Chris Massaro from Middle Tennessee State, former Mississippi tight end Wesley Walls, and sports journalists Ivan Maisel and Steve Wieberg.
The key responsibility of the committee involves ranking teams to form the 12-team postseason bracket, which was first used last season. However, it remains undecided if the system will undergo any modifications in 2025.
Both the commissioners of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and the Big Ten have advocated for a revision that might prevent conference champions from automatically securing first-round byes. Nevertheless, introducing any changes for the forthcoming season would necessitate a unanimous agreement from all 11 conference commissioners and the athletic director from Notre Dame, who collectively manage the playoff.
