Doucet Scores 30 as Winthrop Beats UNC Asheville in Big South

    ROCK HILL, S.C. — In a thrilling end to the regular season, KJ Doucet scored 30 points to lead Winthrop to a 103-90 victory over UNC Asheville. This win allowed Winthrop to draw level with the Bulldogs for a shared second place in the Big South Conference.

    KJ Doucet also contributed seven rebounds for the Eagles, who now hold a 21-10 overall record and an 11-5 mark in conference play. Nick Johnson supported the offensive effort with 18 points, five rebounds, and an impressive seven steals. Additionally, Kelton Talford added 14 points, making five of nine shots from the field and hitting four out of five free throws.

    For UNC Asheville, Jordan Marsh was the standout performer, scoring 27 points alongside seven assists and three steals. Toyaz Solomon also had a strong game with 20 points and two blocks, while Josh Banks added 17 points to the Bulldogs’ tally. The team ends the regular season with a 20-10 overall record and matching Winthrop’s 11-5 conference record.
