MILAN—A glamorous new collection from Max Mara is providing fashion-forward women with an avenue to chase their dreams while relishing in the comfort of expertly tailored cashmere in calming, single-color palettes.
Unveiled on Thursday during Milan Fashion Week, the collection for the upcoming autumn and winter seasons highlighted form-fitting bodices that transitioned elegantly into voluminous skirts and wide-legged trousers that accentuated the waist effortlessly. The knitwear was notably ribbed and underpinned by daringly high thigh-length tights. Outerwear maintained a fluidity without an oversized look, with double belts highlighting the silhouette. Shawl collars were cleverly designed to transform into protective hoods.
Max Mara stuck to its signature color scheme, showcasing monochromatic ensembles in shades of rich burgundy, sleek black, classic camel, and a soft, creamy hue they term cascia, reflecting the natural tone of cashmere.
Ian Griffiths, the creative director, elaborated on the concept, describing the refined looks, complete with shearling or quilted layers, as versatile enough for both trudging through the windswept moors of Yorkshire or even resting under the stars. However, he noted the Max Mara woman is more inclined to stride confidently through the halls of influence.
“This collection captures a pivotal moment for a woman who has relentlessly climbed the corporate ladder using rationality but has sidelined her inner passions,” Griffiths explained. “Given the current state of the world, she is driven to seek out ways to voice these passions.”
