Dixon Leads Villanova Win Against Seton Hall, 59-54

    NEWARK, N.J. — Villanova triumphed over Seton Hall, with Eric Dixon leading the charge by scoring an impressive 32 points, culminating in a close 59-54 victory on Wednesday night.

    Dixon demonstrated his prowess on the court by also securing 10 rebounds, contributing significantly to the Wildcats’ record of 17-12, including a 10-8 standing in the Big East Conference. Wooga Poplar added to their efforts by scoring 12 points. Poplar’s performance included shooting 3 for 10, hitting 1 out of 3 from beyond the arc, and being flawless from the free-throw line with 5 successful shots. He also pulled down 12 rebounds.

    Despite their best attempts, Seton Hall, which now holds a 7-21 record and a 2-15 conference tally, saw Dylan Addae-Wusu excel by scoring 18 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, and delivering 6 assists. Isaiah Coleman also added to the scoreboard with 12 points, while Prince Aligbe contributed 10 points, 9 rebounds, and made 3 steals.

    The game saw Dixon netting 7 points in the opening half, but Villanova found themselves trailing Seton Hall by 12 points at halftime, with a score of 33-21. Nevertheless, an outstanding comeback with Dixon scoring 25 points in the second half sealed the five-point win for Villanova.

    Looking forward, both teams will find themselves back in action on Saturday. Villanova is set to host Butler, while Seton Hall will be on the road to face off against St. John’s.
