Raynaud’s Double-Double Leads Stanford Over Boston College

    STANFORD, Calif. — In a commanding performance, Maxime Raynaud tallied 23 points and collected 10 rebounds, marking his 21st double-double to lead the nation this season. Stanford rolled to a decisive 78-60 victory over Boston College on Wednesday night.

    Raynaud showcased his shooting prowess by sinking 3 of 4 from beyond the arc, contributing 16 points during the first half. This offensive surge helped Stanford seize a 37-19 advantage going into halftime. Although the Eagles managed to hold brief leads during the initial three minutes of play, Stanford unleashed a decisive 15-2 run over the following six minutes to take control. This period saw the Cardinal successfully shooting three 3-pointers, completing the half with 6 out of 13 attempts.

    Early in the second half, Raynaud again found his mark from long range, boosting Stanford to an imposing 27-point lead. However, the Cardinal hit a scoring lull, managing only 11 points over the next nine minutes, allowing Boston College to narrow the gap to 68-53 with just five minutes left on the clock.

    Boston College inched closer as Roger McFarlane’s 3-pointer trimmed the deficit to 74-60 with three minutes remaining. Yet, this turned out to be the Eagles’ final successful field goal of the evening. In the game’s concluding moments, Stanford secured their victory by netting four more free throws.

    Stanford’s Oziyah Sellers added 18 points, with Chisom Okpara and Jaylen Blakes contributing 15 and 11 points, respectively. The Cardinal exhibited commendable marksmanship, hitting 48% of their shots from the field and converting 13 out of 14 free-throw attempts. Raynaud maintained his efficiency, making 9 out of 14 field goal attempts and 4 out of 6 from three-point territory.

    For Boston College, Chad Venning and Roger McFarlane stood out with 13 and 11 points, respectively. This game marked the first face-off between these two programs.

    Looking ahead, Stanford is set to host SMU on Saturday, while Boston College will travel to play Cal on the same day.
