Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker has issued a statement insisting that he did not behave inappropriately while undergoing professional bodywork treatments. Additionally, he extended an apology.
“It deeply saddens me to think that anyone I have worked with may not have felt respected or valued, not only as a professional but, more importantly, as a person. To anyone who has felt that way, I sincerely apologize,” Tucker remarked in a statement released through his publicist. “I am dedicated to ensuring that everyone I interact with continues to feel respected and cared for as individuals.”
The Baltimore Banner recently reported that 16 massage therapists from eight different spas and wellness centers in the Baltimore area have accused Tucker of inappropriate sexual behavior. Eric DeCosta, the Ravens’ general manager, described the allegations as “serious” and “concerning,” and it has been confirmed that the NFL is conducting an investigation.
When the allegations emerged late last month, Tucker, who is a five-time All-Pro, released an initial statement asserting that he had never received any complaints from a massage therapist or been informed that he was unwelcome at any spa or similar establishment.
In his statement on Wednesday, Tucker described the allegations as “shocking and heart-breaking.” “I maintain I did not engage in inappropriate behavior at any time during or after a professional bodywork treatment session, nor have I ever been informed of being unwelcome at any massage therapy provider. These claims are completely false,” Tucker declared. “Over the past month, I have spent countless hours reviewing every interaction I’ve had with bodywork professionals over the last thirteen years. I assure anyone reading this that I have never intended to disrespect anyone, cross any boundary, or make anyone feel uncomfortable in any way whatsoever.”
