WASHINGTON — In an exciting matchup on Wednesday night, Navy secured a victory over American with a final score of 68-60. Jordan Pennick played a crucial role in the win, contributing 22 points to lead the Midshipmen to victory. Alongside his scoring, Pennick also pulled down five rebounds for Navy, who now stand at 12-18 overall and 9-8 in the Patriot League.

Supporting Pennick’s efforts were teammates Mike Woods and Austin Benigni. Woods showed accuracy on the court, scoring 12 points while successfully making all four of his shots and free throws. Meanwhile, Benigni added 11 points to the tally, despite a challenging 2 of 11 shooting night from the field, but he managed to score 7 out of 9 from the charity stripe.

For the Eagles, standing at 18-12 overall and 12-5 within the Patriot League, Matt Rogers provided significant competition with his 17 points. Greg Jones and Colin Smalls contributed 10 and 9 points respectively, but their efforts fell short in overcoming Navy’s offensive surge.

Navy took a narrow 30-27 lead at halftime, with Pennick setting the pace with seven points before the break. His impressive 15-point second half proved pivotal in the Midshipmen’s eight-point triumph against American.

This defeat for American resulted in them sharing the top spot in the league standings with Bucknell.

Looking ahead, both teams are set to conclude their regular seasons on Saturday. Navy is scheduled to host Loyola Maryland, while American will travel to face off against Colgate.
