FLORENCE, Ala. — In a historic achievement for North Alabama, Jacari Lane spearheaded the team to a victory over Queens with a score of 74-69 on Wednesday night. This win marked North Alabama’s first-ever Atlantic Sun Conference regular-season championship.
Lane delivered an impressive performance, scoring 20 points by hitting 7 of 17 shots from the field, including a remarkable 4 for 6 from beyond the arc. His efforts were crucial for the Lions, who have had a stellar season with a record of 22-9 overall and 14-4 within the conference.
Contributing significantly to the win, Taye Fields showcased his skills with 18 points, proving efficient with an 8 of 12 shooting record and 2 for 4 from the free-throw line. Fields also contributed on defense and on the boards, pulling down nine rebounds and recording three steals. Additionally, Donte Bacchus added to the scoreline with 16 points, shooting 6 of 11 from the field and 2 for 5 from the free-throw line.
Queens, despite their valiant efforts, couldn’t surpass North Alabama’s performance. Leo Colimerio was the standout player for the Royals with 18 points and six rebounds. Kalib Mathews supported his team with 11 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Chris Ashby also contributed 11 points to the defeated rivals.
