OTTAWA, Ontario — Connor Hellebuyck showcased his exceptional goaltending skills, making 24 saves as the Winnipeg Jets extended their remarkable franchise-record winning streak to 11 games. With a 4-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday night, the Jets continue to lead the NHL standings.

Hellebuyck has been in impressive form, securing his second straight win following his standout performance for the United States in the 4 Nations Face-Off. Boasting a remarkable season record of 36-7-2, he has played a pivotal role in propelling the Jets to an overall record of 42-14-3, including a commendable 19-9-0 performance on the road.

The offensive efforts were spearheaded by Cole Perfetti and Mason Appleton, who initiated the scoring for the Jets. Kyle Connor contributed with his 31st goal of the season, while Mark Scheifele secured an empty-netter for his 33rd tally of the year. Both Connor and Scheifele also added assists to their impressive performances.

On the other side, Thomas Chabot found the net for Ottawa, while Linus Ullmark made 35 saves in a valiant effort. Unfortunately, the Senators have now endured a five-game losing streak.

Perfetti and Appleton ignited the momentum with goals scored within a span of just over a minute midway through the first period. Connor further extended the lead to 3-0 at 8:04 into the second period, but Ottawa quickly responded with Chabot’s goal just 49 seconds later.

For the Winnipeg Jets, the possibility of setting an NHL record looms, with the team now only six victories away from the record streak of 17 wins held by the 1992-93 Pittsburgh Penguins. In contrast, the Ottawa Senators faced challenges, dressing just 11 forwards and seven defensemen for the game.

A significant turning point in the match occurred when errors from the Senators led to two early goals for the Jets. An unforced turnover by Tim Stutzle paved the way for the game’s opening goal. Shortly thereafter, a Jets odd-man rush culminated in another goal when Ullmark misjudged a puck he believed was secured.

Statistically speaking, Connor Hellebuyck has excelled with a 21-2-2 record in his last 25 starts, solidifying his standing as one of the top goaltenders in the league.

Looking ahead, the Jets will take on Nashville on Thursday night to wrap up their two-game road trip, while the Senators are set to welcome the San Jose team on Saturday night.
