MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — JJ Quinerly put on a stunning display, scoring a personal best of 38 points, hitting 16 out of 21 shots, to equal West Virginia’s single-game scoring record. This dazzling performance led No. 18 West Virginia to a commanding 75-46 victory over Utah on Wednesday night, securing a flawless 16-0 record at home for the season.

Quinerly’s exceptional game saw her tying with Meg Bulger (2004-08) for the most points ever scored by a Mountaineer women’s player, potentially marking her last appearance at the WVU Coliseum.

She contributed 14 points during the first half, helping establish a solid 30-18 lead. Quinerly continued her remarkable scoring spree by adding 15 out of West Virginia’s 21 points in the third quarter. During this quarter, her defensive efforts, including a steal and a layup on a fast break, extended their lead to 51-36 heading into the final quarter.

With a three-pointer from the corner early in the fourth quarter, Quinerly set a new career milestone with 34 points. West Virginia maintained a comfortable lead of over 20 points for the remaining 3:51, allowing Quinerly to rest for much of the quarter.

Utah, known for its efficient shooting, ranking in the top 15 nationally for field goal (47.7%) and 3-point percentage (38.5%), struggled on the night, making just 17 out of 54 attempts and committing 28 turnovers.

West Virginia (22-6, 12-5 Big 12) capitalized on these mistakes, scoring 35 points off turnovers. This game marked the 19th instance this season where West Virginia forced over 20 turnovers in a match.

Maye Toure led Utah (21-7, 12-5) with 12 points and nine rebounds, while Gianna Kneepkens, Utah’s leading scorer with an average of 19.4 points, was restricted to just nine points.

Both teams are set to conclude their regular seasons on Saturday, with Utah hosting BYU and West Virginia traveling to face Cincinnati.
