In a commanding display of prowess on the basketball court, Hailey Van Lith led the charge for TCU with 26 points, while Madison Conner contributed 15 points, all from beyond the arc, as the No. 10 TCU team triumphed over Houston with a resounding 91-56 victory. This match took place on a Wednesday night in Forth Worth, Texas, and marked the culmination of a flawless regular-season stretch at home for the Horned Frogs.

With a stellar record of 27-3 overall and 15-2 in the Big 12, TCU extended its home winning streak at the Schollmaier Arena to an impressive 22 games, wrapping up the regular season with a clean 19-0. This accomplishment positions TCU as a probable host for the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament.

This victory not only bolstered school records for overall and Big 12 victories in a single season but also set the stage for an eagerly anticipated matchup against No. 17 Baylor in Waco, with the Big 12 regular-season championship on the line.

Houston’s Gia Cooke put forward a valiant effort, scoring 25 points for the Cougars, who now hold a 5-23 record and 1-16 in the conference. Unfortunately, this marked their 11th consecutive loss, many of which were decided by significant margins. Sedona Prince contributed significantly for TCU with 13 points and nine rebounds, marking the highest-scoring Big 12 game this season for the Horned Frogs.

During the game, Houston managed an equal number of turnovers and baskets in the first half, both reaching seven, as they struggled with their shooting, finishing the game with a 36% field goal percentage. TCU, however, showcased impressive long-range shooting, scoring six consecutive 3-pointers towards the end of the first half, propelling them on a 20-2 run that secured a 52-21 lead by halftime. Conner kicked off this scoring spree, with Van Lith scoring three of the six shots.

The critical moment emerged when Conner initiated the scoring with a 3-pointer, sparking a 9-0 run that set the tone for the game. Van Lith and Conner were instrumental in uplifting TCU’s dynamic offense from the perimeter, combining for a total of 9 of 19 three-pointers as the team concluded 13 of 28 from beyond the arc.

Looking ahead, TCU is set to seek a regular-season sweep over Baylor, following their victory in Fort Worth in January, which ended a daunting 37-year streak of losses against the Bears. Houston, on the other hand, will wrap up their season at home on Sunday against UCF.
