CHICAGO — Kawhi Leonard of the Los Angeles Clippers made his return to the court on Wednesday night against the Chicago Bulls after being sidelined for the last two games with a sore left foot.
His return was a significant boost for the Clippers, who had been struggling, having lost their last three games. Entering Wednesday, the Clippers held the sixth position in the Western Conference standings with a record of 31-26.
Leonard, a six-time All-Star, had missed three out of the previous four games, including the defeats to Indiana on Sunday and Detroit on Monday. Furthermore, the two-time NBA champion had been absent for the first nine weeks of the season as he was rehabilitating from an injury to his right knee.
The game against the Bulls marked Leonard’s 17th appearance this season. The 33-year-old came into the matchup with an average of 16.9 points per game, placing him third on the team’s scoring list behind Norman Powell and James Harden.
Norman Powell, who is averaging 24.2 points per game, was unable to participate for the fourth consecutive game due to issues with his sore left knee. On the Chicago side, Nikola Vucevic missed his second consecutive game because of tightness in his right calf.
