DUNEDIN, Fla. — Philadelphia Phillies manager, Rob Thomson, expressed that there is little concern over Bryce Harper after a recent incident in an exhibition game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Harper departed the game on Wednesday after being struck on the arm by a pitch.

Thomson revealed to reporters that Harper sustained a bruise on his right arm from a 92 mph pitch delivered by Toronto’s left-handed pitcher Richard Lovelady. “We’ll assess his condition tomorrow, but right now it seems to be a contusion in the triceps area,” Thomson stated. Harper was initially planned to have a day of rest on Thursday according to the Phillies’ schedule.

The game saw four players being hit by pitches, and Lovelady also received a wild pitch charge. Thomson explained, “At this early stage in spring training, players are still working on their command.” He noted, “There were several hit batsmen during the game. I can’t speak for him, but considering it was Bryce Harper, the pitcher might have been a bit anxious. This is part of baseball.”
