LAS VEGAS — The men’s tennis exhibition event that was supposed to be held Sunday in Las Vegas has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances involving two key players. The reason for the delay largely stems from Jannik Sinner receiving a doping suspension, coupled with the uncertain health status of Taylor Fritz, who is dealing with an abdominal muscle injury.
As of Wednesday, the organizers have not yet announced a rescheduled date for the event. In spite of this, the exhibition match featuring current No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka going head-to-head with former No. 1 Naomi Osaka is still set to take place on Saturday.
Initially, Sinner was part of the lineup for the MGM Rewards Slam but was replaced by Casper Ruud after Sinner accepted a three-month ban according to a settlement reached with the World Anti-Doping Agency. In addition, Fritz’s participation became doubtful after he withdrew from this week’s tournament in Acapulco.
Also included in the lineup was Tommy Paul, who is anticipated to participate in the event once it is rescheduled.
