NEW ORLEANS — A triumphant 73-71 finish for East Texas A&M halted their six-game losing slump in a gripping match against New Orleans on Monday night. TJ Thomas was instrumental in the Lions’ success, scoring 20 points while also recording seven rebounds and making four steals.
The Lions, with a record of 4-25 overall and 2-16 in the Southland Conference, saw additional contributions from KC Ugwuakazi, who scored 11 points and snagged eight rebounds. Meanwhile, Khaliq Abdul-Mateen added 10 points to the team’s tally.
For the Privateers, also with a season record of 4-25 and 2-16 in the conference, standout performances included Michael Thomas, who amassed 16 points and dominated the boards with 18 rebounds. Assisting his efforts, JR Jacobs notched 14 points and provided seven assists, while Theo Grant added 11 points. Unfortunately, this loss extended the Privateers’ losing streak to 11 consecutive games.
