HENDERSON, Nev. — Safety Isaiah Pola-Mao has agreed to a new contract with the Las Vegas Raiders, solidifying his place on the team after an impressive performance in the previous season. His contribution on the field became notable after he secured a starting position.
Pola-Mao entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2022, and he quickly made his mark by setting career highs in tackles, totaling 85, and defending six passes. He earned recognition as the AFC Defensive Player of the Week in Week 16. During this standout game, he made nine tackles and forced two fumbles, leading the Raiders to a 19-14 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. This performance made him the first Raiders defensive back since Charles Woodson in 1999 to force more than one fumble in a single game.
The opportunity for Pola-Mao to become a starter came after Marcus Epps sustained an ACL injury, sidelining him for the remainder of the season. Pola-Mao stepped up to fill the void and demonstrated his capability, making a significant impact on the Raiders’ defense.
