CHICAGO — The Robertson brothers had an unforgettable Sunday, particularly during the second period of their respective games. Jason Robertson netted a hat trick, leading the Dallas Stars to a 4-3 victory against the New York Islanders, while his brother Nicholas Robertson scored twice in the Toronto Maple Leafs’ 5-2 triumph over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Both siblings registered all their goals in the crucial middle period, marking them as the first brothers to achieve multiple goals in a single day in the NHL since Pavel and Valeri Bure did so on March 1, 2000. This historic accomplishment has certainly added to the excitement for their family.

“It’s thrilling, especially for our parents,” noted Nicholas Robertson, 23. “They set up two TVs, and they were jumping off the couch multiple times tonight. It’s great to see him excel, and I’m happy to have a solid game as well.”

After a lengthy nine-game stretch without a goal, Nicholas nearly achieved another score with just over seven minutes left in the second. However, his attempt was thwarted when Blackhawks defender T.J. Brodie cleared the puck just in time. He has yet to record a hat trick in the NHL.

“I was thinking about it, but hopefully another time,” he reflected.

Jason Robertson, 25, commenced Dallas’ scoring with a goal that put them up 2-1 just past the halfway mark of the second period. Following a response from New York’s Kyle Palmieri, Jason netted two more goals while on the power play.

In his last 16 games, Jason has accumulated 13 goals and seven assists. He expressed his joy for his brother’s achievements, stating, “I think he needs the goals more than I do. He works incredibly hard. … We trained together last week, so it’s wonderful to see him getting the accolades he deserves. It’s just a fantastic night for our family.”

Nicholas capitalized on two excellent assists from Max Domi, scoring on a power play from close range at 7:09 of the second period and then netting his tenth goal of the season just 15 seconds before the end of the period.

“Those guys certainly know how to find the back of the net,” Domi commented regarding the Robertson brothers. “I have no clue what they’re drinking back home, but they sure know how to score goals.”
