TORONTO — In an impressive display of shooting, the Toronto Raptors secured a 127-109 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday night, with three players—Immanuel Quickley, Chris Boucher, and RJ Barrett—each contributing 23 points.
Quickley excelled from beyond the arc, successfully sinking 5 of his 7 attempts. The Raptors achieved an impressive 20 out of 35 from three-point territory, effectively sending the Suns, who had just come off a win against the Chicago Bulls the previous night, to their fifth defeat in the past six matchups.
In addition to Boucher’s 23 points, he also recorded 10 rebounds. Scottie Barnes was a key contributor as well, adding 20 points to the team’s total. The Raptors were particularly sharp in the fourth quarter, nailing every 3-point shot they attempted, finishing 8 for 8, which helped them to secure only their second win in eight games.
For the Suns, Devin Booker led the scoring with 31 points, while Bradley Beal also made a strong impact with 30 points. Kevin Durant, who struggled throughout the game, managed to put up 15 points but shot a disappointing 5 for 15 and failed to make any of his five 3-point attempts.
After trailing by 19 points, the Suns made a strong effort to come back, narrowing the deficit to just 2 points with under five minutes remaining. However, the Raptors responded decisively with timely 3-pointers to clinch the win.
In a look at the game statistics, Phoenix’s shooting woes from beyond the arc were evident, as they missed their initial five attempts and ended the first half with a dismal 2 for 13 from three-point range. Ultimately, they finished the game shooting 7 for 28 from distance, matching their season’s low for 3-pointers.
On the other hand, Boucher was close to setting a personal season high, just one point shy of his previous record of 24 points achieved against Sacramento earlier in the month.
A pivotal moment occurred when Greyson Allen’s 3-pointer pulled the Suns within two points at 105-103 with just over five minutes left. The Raptors swiftly countered, as Boucher and Quickley responded with back-to-back 3-pointers, and Quickley hit another shot after Booker’s driving layup.
In the battle between benches, Toronto notably outscored Phoenix 42-18, accentuating the contributions of each player on the Raptors’ roster.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to play again on Tuesday nights. The Suns will conclude their five-game road trip in Memphis, while the Raptors will take on the Boston Celtics at home.
