CHICAGO — After dedicating 33 seasons to the Chicago Blackhawks, organist Frank Pellico played his final game with the team on Sunday night. His tenure with the Blackhawks began in 1991, marking a significant era in the franchise’s history. Following Pellico’s departure, Carrie Marcotte, who has been collaborating with him since the 2018-19 season, will continue to serve as the organist for the team.
The Blackhawks held a special tribute to honor Pellico during their game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, who were the last Original Six team they faced this season. In the organ room, a beautiful arrangement of red and white flowers was accompanied by two gold “3” balloons, symbolizing the number he wore during his time.
During a timeout in the first period, the Blackhawks presented a video showcasing Pellico’s many contributions to the organization over the years. The crowd responded with a thunderous round of applause, and both the Maple Leafs and Blackhawks players demonstrated their respect by tapping their sticks on the ice in his honor. Pellico, visibly moved by the moment, formed a heart shape with his hands and waved to the fans amid the heartfelt ovation he received.
