WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — In a recent spring training matchup against the Washington Nationals, infielder Nick Madrigal of the New York Mets suffered a dislocation of his non-throwing shoulder.

Madrigal is currently vying for a place on the Mets’ roster, and the severity of his injury remains uncertain, raising concerns about the length of time he might be sidelined due to the issue with his left shoulder.

During the game, the 27-year-old was positioned at shortstop, and while he was in the process of fielding a ground ball hit toward the middle, he made a quick throw to first base before collapsing onto the field.

To evaluate the full extent of the injury, he is set to undergo an MRI in the forthcoming days, as reported by MLB.com.

Madrigal, who was selected fourth overall in the 2018 MLB Draft, has accumulated five seasons of experience in Major League Baseball, having played with both the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Cubs. In January, he entered into a one-year contract with the Mets after being non-tendered by the Cubs.
