CHICAGO — Des Watson contributed significantly to Loyola Chicago’s performance on Friday night, scoring 22 points in their close 76-72 triumph over Dayton.
Watson also recorded five rebounds to help the Ramblers improve their record to 18-9 overall, with a 9-5 standing in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
Additionally, Miles Rubin made a notable impact, scoring 14 points and blocking four shots, while Jalen Quinn contributed 11 points by shooting 4 of 6 from the field and 3 of 5 from the free-throw line.
For the Flyers, who also stand at 18-9 but with an 8-6 conference record, Nate Santos was the top scorer with 18 points.
Enoch Cheeks added to the effort with 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Javon Bennett delivered 11 points along with six rebounds.
The match saw Loyola Chicago heading into halftime with a slim 34-31 lead. During the first half, Rubin notably scored nine points.
The decisive moments came when Santos scored the last seven points for Loyola, securing the four-point victory.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to compete again on Wednesday. Loyola Chicago will host George Washington, while Dayton will head out to face Rhode Island.
