    MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — In an exciting matchup on Saturday night, Nate Johnson contributed significantly to Akron’s victory over Central Michigan, scoring 18 points to help secure an 85-82 win and extend the Zips’ remarkable winning streak to 13 games.

    In addition to his scoring, Johnson also recorded seven rebounds and made three steals for the Zips, who now hold a record of 20 wins and 5 losses, with an impressive 12-0 in the Mid-American Conference. Amani Lyles supported the team’s effort with 14 points, while Shammah Scott added 13 more points to the scoreboard.

    On the other side, Ugnius Jarusevicius put on a standout performance for the Chippewas, notching a career-high 32 points along with 10 rebounds. This impressive feat followed his previous game where he scored the same amount in a narrow 91-83 defeat against Kent State. Furthermore, Anthony Pritchard contributed to the Chippewas’ efforts with 15 points, 6 assists, and 2 steals, while Jakobi Heady rounded out the scoring with 13 points and 7 rebounds.

    Although Akron struggled initially, entering halftime down 36-33, they rallied in the second half. A pivotal 7-0 scoring run allowed Akron to take control of the game, establishing an essential nine-point lead at 60-51 with just over ten minutes left to play. From there, they maintained their lead to secure the win.
