RUSTON, La. — In a thrilling matchup on Saturday night, Jaron Pierre Jr. spearheaded Jacksonville State’s victory over Louisiana Tech with an impressive performance, scoring 34 points and securing six rebounds, leading his team to a narrow 70-68 win.
The Gamecocks, now boasting a record of 18-8 and 10-3 in Conference USA, received additional support from Quel’Ron House, who contributed 14 points by going 3 of 5 from the field and an impeccable 8 for 8 from the free-throw line. Koree Cotton added to the scoreboard with seven points, although he struggled in field goals, hitting just 1 of 5 attempts, including 1 for 3 from beyond the arc, while also making all his free throws.
On the other side, the Bulldogs, who sit at 17-9 overall and 6-7 in the conference, had Daniel Batcho leading their effort with 19 points and six rebounds. Amaree Abram also played a key role, chipping in 16 points, while Kaden Cooper recorded eight points along with an impressive 13 rebounds and two steals.
Pierre’s outstanding second-half performance, where he scored 18 points, was pivotal in securing the two-point victory for Jacksonville State.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to compete again on Thursday. Jacksonville State will host New Mexico State, while Louisiana Tech will travel to face Middle Tennessee.
