    WASHINGTON – In a commanding performance, Matt Rogers led the American Eagles to a 72-51 victory over Loyola (MD) on Saturday night, scoring 22 points and grabbing nine rebounds. The Eagles improved their record to 17 wins and 10 losses, with an impressive 11-3 standing in the Patriot League.

    Geoff Sprouse was also instrumental, sinking four of six shots, including four of five from three-point range, contributing 12 points to the team’s total. Wyatt Nausadis added to the effort with a perfect shooting night, finishing with 10 points on four attempts from the field.

    On the opposing side, Milos Ilic was the standout for the Greyhounds, netting 12 points. Jordan Stiemke followed closely with nine points, while Jacob Theodosiou made his presence felt with eight points and four steals. With a record of 10 wins and 15 losses, Loyola holds a 5-9 standing in the league.

    The Eagles surged ahead with 6:42 remaining in the first half, establishing a lead they maintained for the rest of the game. Rogers showcased his scoring ability by racking up 10 points during the first half, allowing American to take a 34-27 lead at halftime. The second half saw the Eagles extend their advantage to 57-39, bolstered by a decisive 10-0 run. In the latter period, Rogers scored an additional 12 points, solidifying the team’s victory.

    Looking ahead, both teams are scheduled to play again on Wednesday, as American heads to face Army while Loyola travels to Boston University.
