DURHAM, N.C. — In an impressive display of skill, Tyrese Proctor led the No. 3 Duke basketball team with 23 points, while Cooper Flagg added 19 points, six assists, and five rebounds, as they defeated Stanford 106-70 on Saturday.
Alongside Proctor and Flagg, Khaman Maluach contributed significantly to the victory with 17 points, Sion James scored 14, and Caleb Foster chipped in with 10 points for the Blue Devils (22-3, 14-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference). Duke’s offense was firing on all cylinders, achieving a remarkable shooting percentage of 62.5 and knocking down 14 three-pointers. Proctor equaled his career-high by making five shots from beyond the arc, while Flagg connected on three.
On the other side, Maxime Raynaud was the standout for Stanford (16-10, 8-7), finishing the game with 19 points and seven rebounds. Oziyah Sellers and Donavin Young added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Duke maintained control of the game, heading into halftime with a 49-34 lead without ever trailing.
After starting strong in January with four consecutive victories, Stanford has struggled in recent times, losing four of their last five games in conference play, which severely hampers their chances at securing a tournament berth. Meanwhile, Duke has shown resilience and dominance since their first conference loss to Clemson, outscoring their subsequent two opponents by an average margin of 28.5 points.
A pivotal moment in the game occurred when Stanford managed to tie the score at 13. However, this was swiftly countered by Duke, who responded with an 8-0 run, including five points from Flagg in just over a minute, reinforcing their lead in a commanding first half.
Duke’s total of 106 points marked a season-high, eclipsing their previous record of 100 points against Army on November 8.
Looking ahead, Stanford is set to play against California on Saturday, while Duke will face off against Virginia on Monday.
