OMAHA, Neb. — In a dominant performance, Morgan Maly led the way with 18 points, while Lauren Jenson showcased her versatility, contributing significantly in multiple areas as No. 24 Creighton triumphed over Georgetown with a score of 70-48 on Saturday. This victory marks the Bluejays’ fifth consecutive win and their 12th in the last 13 games.
Jensen’s impressive stats included 17 points, nine rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and a steal, helping Creighton improve its record to 21-4 overall and 13-1 in the Big East Conference. Maly’s career points climbed to 1,939, positioning her fourth on the all-time scoring list for the Bluejays.
Georgetown’s Kelsey Ransom was the standout performer for her team, scoring 20 points, while Khadee Hession contributed 12 points. Ariel Jenkins had a strong game on the boards, collecting 13 rebounds, six of which were offensive. Unfortunately for the Hoyas, they struggled offensively, shooting just 29% in the second half.
The turning point came early in the second half when Jensen ignited an 8-0 run for Creighton, sinking a three-pointer followed by a jumper that extended their lead to 40-25. By the end of the third quarter, the Bluejays had surged ahead with a 14-3 run, establishing a commanding 57-34 lead going into the final period.
Jayme Horan played a pivotal role in the third quarter, converting all three of her three-point attempts as the Bluejays made four of six from beyond the arc, completing 10 of 18 overall. In contrast, the Hoyas struggled, making only three of seven three-pointers while failing to capitalize inside the paint with an 0 for 10 performance, resulting in a disadvantage of 26-9 in the quarter.
Ransom helped Georgetown gain an early lead of 13-11 at the end of the first quarter, scoring seven points in the process. However, after Ransom hit a three-pointer to initiate the second quarter, the Bluejays retaliated with a dominant 20-3 run, securing a 31-19 margin. Hession’s two three-pointers allowed the Hoyas to narrow the gap to 31-25 at halftime.
Looking ahead, Creighton will host St. John’s on Wednesday, while Georgetown prepares for a matchup against Villanova.
