MONROE, La. — In a Thursday night matchup, Texas State secured a 72-60 victory over UL Monroe, highlighted by Tylan Pope’s impressive performance, scoring 22 points.
Pope’s shooting was notably efficient, as he hit 9 of his 15 attempts from the floor and converted 3 of 4 from the charity stripe, helping the Bobcats improve their record to 13-13 overall and 6-7 in the Sun Belt Conference. Dylan Dawson contributed significantly with 11 points, although his shooting was less effective at 4 for 12, including a challenging 1 for 6 performance from three-point range. Dawson also made his presence felt on the boards with six rebounds and recorded three steals. Tyler Morgan added 10 points for Texas State, going 5 of 8 shooting.
On the other side, Jalen Bolden was the standout for the Warhawks, finishing the game as the leading scorer with 20 points, while also grabbing seven rebounds and securing four steals. His teammates, Makai Willis and Coltie Young each contributed with 12 points, with Willis also netting seven rebounds and blocking four shots.
Looking ahead, both squads are set to compete again on Saturday. Texas State will take on South Alabama, while UL Monroe is scheduled to host Southern Miss at home.
