DURHAM, N.C. — Toby Fournier exploded for 24 points and Ashlon Jackson contributed significantly with five 3-pointers, totaling 23 points, as the Duke Blue Devils, ranked No. 10, overwhelmed the Miami Hurricanes with a dominating 90-49 victory on Sunday.

Oluchi Okananwa added 16 points to the Blue Devils’ tally, who improved to 19-5 overall and 10-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference following this impressive win. This victory marked Duke’s second triumph since their setback against the No. 14 N.C. State last Monday.

For Miami, Cameron Williams and Haley Cavinder scored 14 and 10 points, respectively, but the team continues to struggle, now sitting at 13-10 overall and 3-9 in the conference. The Hurricanes have yet to win any of their games this month after finishing January with a disappointing 2-6 record.

One of the standout statistics for Duke during this game was their significant advantage in bench scoring, outpacing Miami 47-5. This win also represented the Blue Devils’ sixth triumph in the ACC by 25 points or more, with four of those victories showcasing margins exceeding 30 points.

Takeaways from the game highlighted Miami’s struggles—specifically, their 14 turnovers in the first quarter and their difficulty with Duke’s full-court press. This loss marks the Hurricanes’ 10th defeat in their last 11 trips to Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Duke’s defensive strategy was highly effective, forcing Miami into a staggering total of 28 turnovers, the highest for the Hurricanes this season. Freshman Fournier has been a key player for Duke, reaching the 20-point mark for the seventh time, achieving this milestone in consecutive games.

A pivotal moment in the contest occurred at the start of the second quarter when Duke scored the first 11 points in less than three minutes, highlighted by two 3-pointers from Jackson, extending their lead to 31-10.

In terms of shooting performance, Duke managed to convert eight 3-point baskets, while Miami struggled significantly, missing their initial eight attempts and ultimately finishing the game 4 for 18 from beyond the arc, their second-lowest total for the season.

Looking ahead, Duke is set to visit Wake Forest on Thursday night, while Miami will host No. 14 N.C. State in their next matchup on the same day.
