OXFORD, Ohio — In an exciting matchup on Saturday, Evan Ipsaro played a pivotal role for Miami of Ohio, contributing 15 points off the bench during a 69-62 victory against Troy.
Ipsaro’s performance included making 3 of 5 attempts from the field, sinking 2 of 3 from beyond the arc, and successfully converting 7 out of 10 free throws for the RedHawks, who now hold an impressive record of 18-5.
Eian Elmer also had a strong showing, adding 12 points while connecting on 4 of 10 shots, which included a commendable 3 for 7 from three-point range, alongside grabbing eight rebounds. Brant Byers matched Elmer’s scoring output, finishing with 12 points after shooting 5 of 10, including hitting 2 of 5 from long distance.
On the other side, the Trojans (15-9, 8-4 Sun Belt Conference) were led by Tayton Conerway, who delivered an impressive performance with 20 points, seven rebounds, and two steals. Thomas Dowd contributed to the team’s efforts with 13 points and eight rebounds.
Miami took control of the game late in the first half, seizing the lead with just 39 seconds remaining and holding on to it for the remainder of the contest. Byers led the RedHawks in scoring during the first half with 10 points, allowing Miami to take a narrow 32-29 advantage at the halftime break. In the second half, Miami maintained their momentum, outscoring Troy by four points, with Elmer stepping up to score a team-high of 12 points in the latter period.
