OMAHA, Neb. — In a thrilling finish on Thursday night, JJ White sunk a buzzer-beating 3-pointer, clinching an 80-77 triumph for the Omaha Mavericks over the North Dakota Fighting Hawks.

White delivered an impressive performance, amassing 24 points along with eight assists, significantly contributing to the Mavericks’ record, which now stands at 15 wins and 10 losses, with a commendable 9-1 in Summit League play. Marquel Sutton further bolstered the team’s efforts by scoring 18 points, hitting 5 of 12 shots—including 1 of 3 from long distance—and converting 7 of 9 from the free-throw line. Additionally, he secured eight rebounds. Lance Waddles also made his presence felt on the court by scoring 11 points, going 5 for 11 in his shooting attempts.

For North Dakota, which now holds a record of 9-16 overall and 3-7 in conference play, top scorers Amar Kuljuhovic and Mier Panoam each contributed 17 points to the effort. Treysen Eaglestaff added to the Fighting Hawks’ tally with 14 points along with two blocks.

Both teams will look to build on their respective momentum as they prepare for their next games on Saturday. Omaha will be looking to defend their home turf against North Dakota State, while North Dakota is set to travel for a matchup against UMKC.
