LARAMIE, Wyo. — In an exciting Mountain West Conference matchup on Tuesday night, Utah State secured a close 71-67 victory over Wyoming, highlighted by a strong performance from Ian Martinez, who contributed 19 points.
Martinez struggled from beyond the arc, finishing 0 for 5 on three-point attempts, but he made up for it by shooting 5 of 11 from the field and being perfect at the free-throw line, going 9 for 9. The Aggies, with an impressive 20-3 record and a 10-2 mark in conference play, also saw Drake Allen add to the scoreline by hitting three baskets out of eight attempts, including two out of four from long range, finishing with 11 points after going 3 for 5 at the free-throw line.
For Wyoming, Jordan Nesbitt was a standout performer with 11 points and seven rebounds, while Dontaie Allen and Kobe Newton chipped in 10 and nine points, respectively. The Cowboys are now positioned at 11-12 overall and 4-8 in the Mountain West.
