Tyler McGhie starred for UC San Diego with a total of 24 points as the team secured a 74-63 victory over Hawaii on Thursday evening.
McGhie showcased his skills by hitting 8 of his 17 shot attempts, including three 3-pointers, and converting 5 of 6 from the free-throw line. This win pushed the Tritons’ overall record to 18-4 and their conference tally to 8-2 in the Big West Conference, marking their third consecutive win. Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones made a significant contribution as well, scoring 16 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Additionally, Hayden Gray added 13 points to the scoreline, while Nordin Kapic chimed in with 11.

On the other hand, the Rainbow Warriors, now with a record of 12-9 and 4-6 in conference play, have faced a tough stretch, losing their last three games. Akira Jacobs, Ryan Rapp, and Kody Williams each contributed 11 points for Hawaii, but it wasn’t sufficient to secure a win in front of their home crowd.

The Tritons’ ability to rally and dominate in the second half was key to their victory, allowing them to maintain their position near the top of the conference standings. As the season progresses, both teams will look to adjust their strategies and performances in upcoming games.
