ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Frost halted their three-game losing skid with a decisive 5-2 victory against the Boston Fleet on Sunday, bouncing back after experiencing a second shutout loss of the season. The game saw Taylor Heise and Brooke McQuigge find the back of the net in the first period, scoring just 84 seconds apart.

During their recent stretch, Minnesota had struggled offensively, netting only four goals following a shootout defeat to New York, a loss to Montréal, and a close encounter with Ottawa which ended in a shutout. Notably, the PWHL has recorded three shutouts this season, with Minnesota on the unfortunate side of two of them.

Taylor Heise registered a brace in this outing, while Minnesota’s captain, Kendall Coyne Schofield, continued her offensive dominance by scoring her league-leading sixth goal during the third period. She also assisted on both of Heise’s goals, elevating her impressive point total to 14, another mark at the top of the league stats.

Heise opened the scoring for the Frost at the 11:04 mark of the first period, followed closely by McQuigge, who scored her third goal of the season at 12:30, solidifying Minnesota’s 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission. Hilary Knight of Boston responded midway through the second period, making the score 2-1 with her fifth goal of the season. However, Heise quickly struck back, scoring her second goal of the game just two minutes later.

Boston’s Susanna Tapani narrowed the gap again early in the third with a goal that brought the score to 3-2, but before they could build further momentum, Katy Knoll responded for the Frost just two minutes later with her first goal of the season. Coyne Schofield contributed an insurance goal at 11:14, solidifying Minnesota’s lead and ultimately ensuring a comfortable win.

In net, Nicole Hensley made a commendable 26 saves on 28 shots from Boston, earning the victory. On the other side, Emma Söderberg faced 27 shots and managed to save 22 but ultimately took the loss.

As for upcoming matches, Minnesota (5-3-2-4) is set to host the Toronto Sceptres on Tuesday, while Boston (3-2-2-5) will welcome the New York Sirens on Friday.
