MELBOURNE, Australia — Sam Schroder has claimed his fourth consecutive quad wheelchair title at the Australian Open, triumphing over fellow Dutch competitor Niels Vink with a score of 7-6 (7), 7-5 on Saturday.
Second seeded Vink entered the match with a record of 23 wins and 12 losses against the top-seeded Schroder.
“Winning this tournament again feels really special for me,” said Schroder. “After securing my first victory, I was eager for the second. It’s incredible to have achieved my fourth title. It’s really overwhelming when I reflect on it.”
