RIVERSIDE, Calif. — In an exciting overtime matchup, UC Riverside triumphed over UC Irvine with a final score of 84-80 on Thursday night. Barrington Hargress was the standout player, contributing 20 points to the Highlanders’ victory while also recording six rebounds and eight assists.
The Highlanders had a solid performance overall, with Kaleb Smith adding 13 points, shooting 6 for 11 from the field, and making one of four attempts from beyond the arc. He also contributed seven rebounds to the team’s efforts. Jack Whitbourn was efficient in his scoring, going a perfect 4 for 4 from the field and 2 for 3 from the free-throw line, finishing with a total of 11 points.
On the other side, Myles Che led the scoring for the Anteaters, finishing the game with 20 points. Team members Bent Leuchten and Devin Tillis also had strong outings, with Leuchten securing 17 points along with 12 rebounds, while Tillis contributed 16 points and 10 rebounds. This defeat marked the end of a remarkable seven-game winning streak for UC Irvine.
