RICHMOND, Ky. — In a thrilling matchup on Thursday night, Mehki Ellison sank a halfcourt 3-pointer just as the buzzer sounded, leading Stetson to a narrow 67-66 victory over Eastern Kentucky.
Ellison had an effective shooting night, going 6 for 12 overall and hitting 1 out of 4 from long range, contributing a total of 15 points for the Hatters, who now hold a record of 6-14 and sit at 4-3 in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
Alongside Ellison, Abramo Canka added solid support with 12 points, shooting 6 of 10 from the floor, and he also secured six rebounds. Josh Massey contributed as well, scoring 11 points on 4 of 8 shooting.
For the Colonels, both Devontae Blanton and George Kimble III were standout performers, each netting 16 points in the contest. This performance brought Eastern Kentucky’s record to 9-11 and 3-4 in the conference.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to compete again on Saturday. Stetson will travel to Bellarmine, while Eastern Kentucky will host FGCU.
