SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Benjamin Morrison, a junior cornerback from Notre Dame, has decided to declare for the NFL draft after a difficult season that saw him sidelined for a majority of the games due to a hip injury sustained in October.
Morrison took to social media on Thursday to share his announcement, expressing that his decision marks not only the close of a significant chapter in his life but also the exciting start of a new journey. He reflected on his experiences at Notre Dame, stating, “I’ll carry the lessons, memories, and love from Notre Dame every step of the way.”
Considered a strong candidate for a first-round selection in the upcoming draft this April, Morrison showcased his talents during his freshman year when he recorded six interceptions. This past season, he managed to achieve three interceptions and led his team with 10 pass breakups before his season came to an early end. His performance earned him a spot as a semifinalist for the prestigious Jim Thorpe Award.
Morrison made an impact early in the season, starting in the first six games prior to his necessary hip surgery that curtailed his play. In total, his career at Notre Dame concluded with impressive statistics, including nine interceptions, 27 passes defended, and 84 tackles.
As he prepares for the next phase of his career, Morrison’s achievements at Notre Dame have positioned him as a notable prospect to watch in the forthcoming NFL draft.
