NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Pelicans will be without forward Zion Williamson for their game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night.
Williamson was unable to participate in Monday’s win over the Utah Jazz due to a non-COVID related illness. On Thursday, the team announced that he continues to be sidelined “due to return to play reconditioning from illness.”
Having already missed 27 games this season from a left hamstring strain he incurred in early November, this will mark his 35th absence this season.
Williamson has only appeared in 10 games this year, with his most recent outing being last Friday where he contributed significantly to the team’s victory over the Jazz, scoring 24 points and securing 14 rebounds in less than 24 minutes of play.
Additionally, Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram, who is dealing with a left ankle sprain, will also miss the game in Memphis, extending his absence to 21 games.
