The Charlotte Hornets have announced that guard Brandon Miller will be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to surgery for a torn ligament in his right wrist.
The team confirmed the operation took place on Thursday and stated that updates on his recovery will be provided as he heals.
Miller sustained the injury during a victory against Utah last week, which prompted an MRI to assess the damage.
As the second overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Miller has made a significant impact in his second year in the league, boasting averages of 21 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.1 steals over the course of 27 games.
He was the second-leading scorer for the Hornets and showed his shooting prowess by making 3.9 three-pointers per game, placing him fifth in the league in that category.
Last season, Miller’s performance earned him a spot on the NBA’s All-Rookie first team, and he was recognized as the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month on three occasions.
Additionally, he finished in third place in the voting for Rookie of the Year.
With his absence now confirmed, the Hornets will need to adjust their strategy moving forward as they navigate the rest of the season without one of their key players.
