FORT COLLINS, Colo. — In an exciting matchup, Nique Clifford scored 20 points, leading the Colorado State Rams to a thrilling 75-72 victory over the Boise State Broncos on Wednesday night.
With less than a minute remaining, Clifford managed to tie the game, setting up a tense finish as the Broncos failed to capitalize on their next possession. After Clifford’s missed layup with only seconds left, teammate Jaylen Crocker-Johnson secured the rebound and passed it out to Jalen Lake, who sank the decisive three-pointer from the left wing with just four seconds on the clock.
Clifford’s performance also included seven rebounds and seven assists, showcasing his all-around contribution to his team’s success (12-7 overall, 6-2 in the Mountain West Conference). Lake added 13 points, making 5 of 10 attempts from the floor and hitting 2 of 6 from beyond the arc. Kyan Evans matched Lake’s 13 points with an impressive shooting display, going 3 for 6 overall and a remarkable 3 for 5 from three-point territory while also hitting 4 of 5 free throws.
For the Broncos (13-7, 5-4), Tyson Degenhart emerged as the standout player, scoring an impressive 27 points in the loss. His performance was supported by Alvaro Cardenas, who contributed 18 points alongside seven assists and two steals. Javan Buchanan also made an impact with 11 points and two blocks.
Looking ahead, Colorado State will travel to face Fresno State on Saturday, while Boise State will host Nevada on the following Wednesday.
