Loyola Chicago triumphed over Fordham with a score of 70-66 in a hard-fought game on Wednesday night.
Sheldon Edwards was a standout performer for the Ramblers, contributing 13 points, seven assists, and three steals to the team’s efforts.
In addition to Edwards, Jayden Dawson made a significant impact by scoring 11 points, thanks to a shooting performance that included three field goals and a free throw conversion of four out of seven attempts.
Des Watson also recorded 11 points, although his shooting struggled, going three for twelve from the floor and one for six from beyond the arc, yet he was perfect from the free-throw line, sinking all four attempts.
For Fordham, Japhet Medor shone bright, leading his team with an impressive 22 points and adding six assists.
Jackie Johnson III matched his teammate’s score, also netting 22 points while contributing two steals.
Josh Rivera added a dozen points to support the Rams.
Unfortunately for Fordham, this game marks their sixth consecutive loss, putting them at a record of 8-11, with an alarming 0-6 in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
In the first half, Edwards was effective, scoring 11 points that helped Loyola to a narrow 34-31 advantage at halftime.
The turning point came during the second half, where Loyola mounted a decisive 10-0 run that overturned a four-point deficit and advanced them to a 61-55 lead with just under five minutes remaining in the game.
Miles Rubin played a pivotal role in the second half as well, contributing seven points to solidify the Ramblers’ position.
