UAB clinches 81-78 win against UTSA

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — In an exciting matchup on Tuesday night, Yaxel Lendeborg played a pivotal role in UAB’s 81-78 victory over UTSA.
The standout performance from Lendeborg included 24 points along with 14 rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks, leading the Blazers to improve their record to 12-7 overall and 5-1 within the American Athletic Conference.
Additionally, Christian Coleman contributed significantly to the team’s efforts by scoring 14 points, shooting 5 of 14, and hitting all four of his free-throw attempts, while also grabbing nine rebounds and blocking four shots.
Efrem Johnson chipped in with 11 points, but he struggled with his shooting, going 5 for 12 and missing all five of his three-point attempts.

On the other side, the Roadrunners, now at 8-10 overall and 2-4 in conference play, were led by Primo Spears, who had a stellar game with 27 points and eight assists.
Damari Monsanto also made a strong impact, recording 21 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks, while Marcus Millender added 13 points to the team’s tally.
The Blazers entered halftime with a slight edge, leading UTSA 38-32, thanks in part to Lendeborg’s nine points in the first half.
His impressive 15-point performance during the second half was crucial in securing the team’s three-point victory.
