BUFFALO, N.Y. — In an impressive display of basketball, Akron triumphed over Buffalo with a decisive score of 90-58 on Tuesday night.
Tavari Johnson was the standout player for Akron, contributing 20 points along with five rebounds and five assists, helping lift the Zips to a record of 13 wins against 5 losses, including a perfect 6-0 in the Mid-American Conference. Nate Johnson was another key player, scoring 18 points and securing nine rebounds. James Okonkwo added to the offense with 11 points, having made 4 of 7 field goal attempts and 3 out of 5 free throws, in addition to grabbing seven rebounds. This victory marked the Zips’ sixth consecutive win, showcasing their strong performance this season.
On the other side, Ryan Sabol led the Bulls with 15 points, while Anquan Boldin Jr. and Noah Batchelor chipped in with nine and eight points, respectively, for Buffalo, which now stands at 6-12 overall and 1-5 in conference play. Batchelor also contributed two steals to the team’s effort.
From the opening moments of the game, Akron seized control, taking the lead within two minutes and never looking back. By halftime, they had established a solid 40-25 advantage, largely due to Tavari Johnson’s impressive 15-point performance in the first half. The Zips continued to dominate after the break, extending their lead to as much as 61-33, spurred by a robust 15-3 scoring run. Marvin Musiime-Kamali was instrumental in the second half, leading his team’s scoring with 10 points as Akron secured their commanding victory.
